The Birth of Mary commemorates the birth of the Virgin Mary to Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. While the event is not described in the canonical Gospels, it is preserved in early Christian tradition, especially the 2nd century Protoevangelium of James. In Catholic theology, Mary’s birth holds an important place in salvation history because she was chosen to become the mother of Jesus Christ.
This subject is widely recognized in Catholic and Orthodox devotion and has been a frequent theme in Christian art, especially in medieval and Renaissance works. Compared to general religious wall art, this download offers a clearly defined devotional subject tied to a specific feast, historical tradition, and catechetical use. It is well suited for those seeking Catholic gifts, Marian devotion resources, or printable sacred art for the home.
