Our Lady of Fatima appeared to three elementary-aged shepherd children in 1917 Portugal under the name “the Lady of the Rosary”. From May till October of that year, she met with them on the 13th day of each month, teaching them how to pray, showing visions of eternal life, and relaying urgent messages for humanity. She promised peace to humanity if we obeyed her plea for prayer, reparation, and consecration to her Divine Son through her Immaculate Heart. During her final apparition, nearly 70,000 people witnessed the “Miracle of the Sun”, a phenomenon that is unexplainable by modern science!

Two of the shepherd children went on to live short lives of radical holiness, and are now beatified as Bl. Jacinta Marto and Bl. Francisco Marto. The oldest of the young seers, Lucia dos Santos, lived a long life as a religious sister and was even able to witness some of Our Lady’s prophecies come to fruition! Sr. Lucia died in 2005, and there is an open cause for her canonization.
