- Focuses on the Virgin of the Passion, also known as Our Lady of Perpetual Help
- Explores the tradition linking the icon to St. Luke
- Includes historical context on miracles, petitions, and papal recognition
- Useful for Marian devotion, novena preparation, and Catholic study groups
According to tradition, Our Lady of Perpetual Help is considered the oldest icon in the Church. It is believed that the first icon of the Virgin of the Passion was painted by St. Luke, whose Gospel records intimate details of Christ's early life and Passion. Tradition further holds that he painted the icon while the Blessed Mother was still in Jerusalem, and that she blessed both the painter and the image.
Compared to a brief prayer card or single-page devotional, this ebook offers fuller context for Catholics who want to understand the origin and spread of this Marian devotion. It is well suited for reading on Kindle-compatible devices, tablets, or computers at home, during adoration, before a novena, or while preparing a lesson on Marian apparitions and Catholic tradition.
